What Size Dumpster Do I Need?
Picking a dumpster size feels harder than it is. Almost every project maps neatly to one of five roll-off sizes. Here's a plain-English guide — and when in doubt, a quick call gets you a confident recommendation.
Match the size to the job
10 yard — small & heavy
Best for a single room, a small bathroom remodel, or heavy debris like concrete and dirt where weight matters more than space.
15 yard — the in-between
Ideal for flooring or carpet tear-outs, a deck removal, or a medium garage clean-out.
20 yard — the popular all-rounder
Our most-requested size. Handles whole-home cleanouts, roofing tear-off and mid-size remodels. If you're unsure, this is usually the safe pick.
30 yard — big projects
A contractor favorite for demolition, home additions and large estate cleanouts.
40 yard — maximum volume
Built for major construction and commercial jobs with high volumes of bulky (but not extremely heavy) debris.
The two numbers that matter
Volume is how much space you have; weight is how heavy the load can be. Light, bulky debris runs out of space first, while dense material hits the weight limit first. If your project is heavy — think concrete, tile or dirt — a smaller container with a clean load is often the right (and cheaper) answer.
