Dumpster Rental Guide
It's one of the first questions people ask, and the answer is usually reassuring: for most residential jobs, you won't need a permit at all. Here's how to tell.
If the dumpster sits on your private driveway or property, you typically don't need any permit. This covers the large majority of residential rentals. We place protective boards down and position the container so it stays fully on your property.
If there's no room on your driveway and the container has to sit on a public street, the City of Tracy may require an encroachment or right-of-way permit. Rules and fees are set by the city, so it's best to confirm directly with the City of Tracy Public Works department. We're happy to walk you through it when you book.
Many Tracy-area neighborhoods — especially newer communities like Ellis and Mountain House — have homeowners associations with their own rules on how long a container can stay and where it can go. A quick check with your HOA avoids headaches later.
